Shaun Chen’s recordas MP for Scarborough North, 2015–2026
Shaun Chen didn’t work hard for Scarborough as our MP. Don’t hire him again as your councillor.
He didn’t keep his promise
He promised to fight for Scarborough “each and every day.”
In his first debate speech in the House of Commons, in November 2016, Shaun promised to fight for his constituents “each and every day.” For nearly 11 years, he was mostly silent on the issues that matter most to Scarborough.

Scarborough hired him. Then he left.
Scarborough North re-elected Shaun on April 28, 2025, with 63% of the vote. He resigned on August 15, 2026, 15 months into a four-year term. Days later, he asked the people of Ward 23 for a different job. Scarborough North has had no MP since, and voters are on the hook for a by-election that will cost millions of dollars.

Nearly 11 years. What did Scarborough get?
Shaun Chen represented Scarborough North from 2015 until August 2026. The official record shows he rarely advocated for what Scarborough needed: transit, family doctors, housing, safety and affordability.

Silent on Scarborough’s priorities
He said transit was #1. Then he stopped talking about it.
In 2017, Shaun told the House that public transit “almost always comes up” when he talks with residents. Then he went nearly eight years without raising transit in the House, even after the Scarborough RT closed in 2023 and the subway was reported delayed to 2033.

Ottawa is spending billions on the Scarborough subway. He never spoke up for it.
The federal government is investing over $2.25 billion in the Scarborough Subway Extension, the biggest transit project in Scarborough’s history. In more than ten years in Parliament, Shaun Chen was silent about it — silent in debate, in Question Period and at committee.
Government of Canada, July 31, 2026 [7]; House and committee record [4]
Nearly 100,000 without a family doctor. Not one mention.
Scarborough is short a family doctor for nearly 100,000 people. In nearly 11 years, their MP never raised the family doctor shortage in Parliament. He never once mentioned family health teams or Scarborough Health Network.

Nearly eight years without a House speech on housing.
Affordable housing is a top priority in Scarborough. For his last nearly eight years as MP, Shaun didn’t talk about housing policy or affordable housing in the House of Commons.
House of Commons Debates, Nov. 1, 2018 [9]
Nothing at all on local safety.
Nearly 11 years in Parliament, and not one word about safety on Scarborough’s streets from Shaun Chen.
House and committee record [4]
More statements on shopping mall anniversaries than on Scarborough’s issues.
Three of his member’s statements celebrated shopping mall anniversaries: Malvern Town Centre, Woodside Square and Scarborough Town Centre. None were about transit, housing, family doctors, crime or the cost of living.

Scarborough deserves someone who shows up.
